As a native of Northern Ontario, Marc attended College Notre-Dame High School (1991), in Sudbury and then went on to complete a three year bilingual Marketing Diploma at Cambrian College of Applied Arts and Technology (1994).
Marc completed 5 years of post-secondary education, plus a clinical internship before entering private practice. He had to pass provincial licensing board exams and be registered in Ontario with the College of Massage Therapists of Ontario (CMTO). All professionals who use the title “RMT” or “MT” must qualify in the same manner.
He focuses in the treatment of: headaches, neck, back, extremities (such as the jaw, shoulder, elbow, wrist, hip, knee and foot), conditions related to pregnancy, whiplash, car accidents and the prevention of sports injuries; with an emphasis on overall health. Marc is active in the sports field and has treated many sports-related injuries.
After opening his practice, Marc went on to do many other things. He continued his education by graduating from the Open International University for Complementary Medicines with a Doctorate of Acupuncture (2000) and attained a Bachelor of Health Science (2005) from Charles Sturt University.
Over the years Marc has been active within the massage therapy profession, by owning and directing the Ottawa Professional Therapy Centre, which he sold to his staff in 2005. He has taught massage therapy techniques and theory at local massage schools in Ottawa, Ontario, CANADA, and has been actively involved in developing the competency standards for the College of Massage Therapists of Ontario. As a board certified examiner, Marc strived to raise the bar in massage therapy education in Ontario.
Marc is a member of the College of Massage Therapists of Ontario, the Canadian Council of Certified Acupuncturists, the Acupuncture Foundation of Sri Lanka and was the President of the Registered Massage Therapists of Eastern Ontario, a chapter of the Ontario Massage Therapist Association.
Within the community, Marc has served on the Board of Directors for the Sandy Hill Community Health Centre. He has delivered numerous lectures on Registered Massage Therapy and Acupuncture to health professionals as well as to the general public. He has given keynote lectures, seminars and workshops on Massage Therapy and Complementary Medicines at clinics, medical schools and societies, and television shows. He has expertise in teaching holistic medicine as a board-registered family practitioner and has authored several publications in health journals and community newspapers.
He was worked for Sun Life Financial as a Health Management Consultant where he specialized in disability and return-to-work management. He's been under contract at the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada as the National CPR Anytime Business Development Manager, and responsible for the strategic business planning and program development for the CPR Anytime program launch. Currently, Marc works at Encon Group Inc. as a Claims Analyst in their special risks division.
Evenings and Saturdays, Marc continues to offer a small group of Bytonians massage and acupuncture treatments. A soft spoken man with a gentle manner, he believes that helping to alleviate people’s suffering is probably the biggest reason he began to study massage therapy and acupuncture. “When I can make a difference in someone’s quality of life I feel rewarded.”
Marc also travels to give continuing education courses to a number of practitioners in Jamaica. He loves to travel throughout the Caribbean and is slowly learning the Spanish language and hopes to be able to train massage therapists in the Latin Countries of Central America.
He loves to dance salsa and merengue, watch movies, exercise outside, spend time with family and friends and study!
